10 to 11 foot ceilings a 3 inch or a 12 inch drop rod.
If your fan includes a 6 inch downrod we recommend it on a 9 foot ceiling.
Ceiling fans with a standard mount are designed for rooms where the ceiling height is around nine feet.
For safety reasons a ceiling fan should always hang at least 7 above the floor.
11 to 12 foot ceilings an 18 to 24 inch drop rod.
For an 11 foot ceiling we recommend an 18 inch downrod and this will have your blades 8 feet off the ground.
Ideal for rooms with a ceiling height over 9 feet downrods lower your fan bringing it closer to you and your guests for optimal and efficient comfort.
The ideal fan height from floor to fan blades is approximately 8 feet.
Also for maximum air flow there should be at least 10 inches of air space between the blades and the ceiling.
For example if your ceiling is 12 feet high and your ceiling fan is 12 inches in height you will need a 24 inch downrod to mount the ceiling fan between eight and nine feet above the floor.
Many fans have multiple mounting options allowing them to work almost anywhere in the home.

The length of your downrod depends on the height of your ceiling.
If you have a regular sized bedroom of 144 to 225 square feet then a medium ceiling fan with a blade span of 44 to 50 inches will be a great fit.
You will want to check your fan to ensure that its cfm rating is anywhere between 1 600 and 4 500.
